FAQ

As from 18 October 2015 there is no longer the need to expose the insurance sticker on the windshield; the control of insurance is now effected through a national database. A possible mismatch on the database has to be proved showing the valid insurance certificate that must be compulsory kept on board the vehicle.
The following documents or information are needed to obtain a Motor Liability policy quotation: • front / back copy of the vehicle document (Libretto di Circolazione) • Copy of the Risk certificate (if the vehicle was previously insured) • personal details of the owner of the vehicle, the tax code, date of issue of the driving license, activity and registered residence • Statement of the requested additional guarantees (Fire, Theft, etc.) and value of the vehicle. Foe specific cases additional details could be requested
The Motor Liability covers are not all the same. The evaluation of the product's convenience must take into account not only the premium applied but also the relevant insured limits, the contractual conditions, with particular reference to the deductible provisions and those of exclusions and subrogation. The exclusion and subrogation clauses are contractual conditions which limit or exclude the risk coverage and compensation in the event of a claim. Given these limitations, the company is still obliged to pay a claim at any damaged third party but has the right to claim against the policyholder, that is to ask the total or partial refund of the amount paid. The exclusions mentioned by the insurers are accidents caused by driver while drunk or under the effects of drugs or driving without a license. Some Companies are prepared to waive certain exclusions. There are policies in which the coverage is limited to the case of drivers identified in the contract; so if the accident is caused by a different driver than the one stated in the contract, the company has the right to seek refund from the policyholder for the amount paid to the damaged party. It is also necessary to pay attention to the additional guarantees for the protection of the vehicle - fire, theft, vandalism, legal protection, assistance, etc.-which are subject to pricing and taxation separate from the motor liability, although usually given together with it.
The so called "Bonus / Malus" is a tariff system for compulsory Motor Liability insurance contract. It provides, for cars, motorcycles and mopeds, the variation of the relevant premium, up or down, depending on the occurrence or non- occurrence of accidents caused by the insured, in a given period of time, called "period of observation". In the absence of claims you get a bonus (decrease) and decrease of a class in the scale. In the presence of claims you get a malus and increase of one or more classes. The vehicle which is insured for the first time, is inserted in an initial risk class (which corresponds to to 14th class CU).
The Decree Law No. 179 of 18/10/2012 (CONVERTED INTO LAW 221/2012), HAS FINALLY RESOLVED THAT THERE IS'NO MORE OBLIGATION TO GIVE CANCELLATION NOTICE.
The risk certificate is a document certifying your insurance history in the last five years (absence/presence of claims and present risk class). The corresponding statement information is transmitted electronically among insurance companies and made available to the policyholder on his personal area of the company’s website within 30 days of the expiry of the contract. The risk certificate is valid for 5 years from the expiry of the policy.
YES, it is important, as the premium rate could change.
The physical damage suffered by passengers –both relatives and not- are always covered.
Whoever is right or wrong, you should always contact your Insurer intermediary to present the advice within three days from the date of the accident.
30 days for damages to the vehicle if the Blue Form shows both signatures. 60 days for damages to the vehicle if the Blue Form contains only a signature. 90 days for physical damages.
It is particular kind of insurance designed for fleets of vehicles used for business or rental, which allows to unify the entire fleet under a single cover, covering each vehicle, and allows to add if needed also other guarantees in addition to the compulsory one, with a common expiry date chosen by the Client according to its needs.
The non-motor contracts with a multiannual duration, signed before 15.08.2009, can be terminated at their annual expiry with a 60 days’ notice by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt (according to the “Bersani law”). The contracts signed after 15.08.2009, may be terminated at their natural expiry, or after the first five years. The cancellation must be sent at least 60 days before the expiry by registered mail with return receipt. The contracts with annual duration can be terminated every year with a 60 days’ notice, in some cases even 30 days, by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt; otherwise the contract is automatically renewed for one or more years with the maximum of two years. It is always useful to read the contract terms.
Normally within three days from when the Insured becomes aware of it. (Art. 1913 of the Civil Code), but it is always necessary to make reference to the General insurance Conditions governing the contract. In any case it is good practice to give communication of the claim to the Company, through the Intermediary, in the shortest possible time.
The deductible is an amount which is agreed upon and indicated on the contract. The practical significance is that it will not be paid to the Insured damages the value of which is less than the deductible and that higher damages will be paid after deduction of the amount of the deductible.
The percentage self-insurance is a value (precisely percentage) that after having determined the damage amount, will be applied to this amount and deducted from it. For example, if the customer has a damage of 100 Euros but the policy provides for a 20% self-insurance, then 80 Euros will be paid.
The accident policy ensures objectively ascertainable physical injuries that have caused death, permanent or temporary disability, as a direct and exclusive consequence of a fortuitous, violent and external event. In life insurance the insurer is obliged to pay a lump sum or an annuity upon the occurrence of the insured event (death, survival).
The sums insured should be proportional to income, to the profession and to the socio-economic position of the insured. In principle, they should ensure and not exceed: - five times the salary or the annual income in case of death, - six times the salary or the annual income in the event of permanent disability.
Usually the policy of condominium ensures the building against fire and additional guarantees and legal liability to third parties arising from the ownership of the building. It does not ensure the content, i.e. the furniture, appliances, etc., nor legal liability to third parties arising from running of the apartment. It is therefore advisable to take out a personal insurance policy to integrate the one of the condominium with the missing guarantees.
Ensuring a house becomes almost necessary if: • you are the owner • in addition to being owned it is directly used • there are pets in the house • there are small children in the house • it is a high floor with a terrace or balcony from which objects can drop that could damage things or people below • there is anything of value in the house • there are electronic devices that in addition to being subject to theft, may suffer losses/damages arising from electrical faults
The tenant is liable for damages caused to the property which can be attributed to him, therefore he is exposed even more seriously than the owner who could, according to his interest, even give up to restore the house after a claim. This in particular in the case of fire, even of small proportions, considering that only the intervention of the fire brigade often creates large damages in order to avoid the spread of the fire. Then there is the risk of fire and theft of the furniture and personal effects as well as the responsibility for the house management for damages to third parties, whether they are other owners/tenants or passersby.
First of all, it is good to remember that the insurance policy for the house is closely linked to the characteristics of the house: if we suffer a theft of objects inside the house, without that the closure means (doors and windows) suffer any break-in (i.e. by people who we may even have introduced ourselves in the house), the insurance is not meant to operate refunding the loss. Secondly, immediately after having stipulated an insurance policy for the house, you should: • estimate as accurately as possible the total value of all internal assets of the home (including furniture, valuables and electronic equipment) • communicate the change in value in the case of purchases of a certain importance after the inception of the policy, to possibly increase the insured amount for theft • keep evidence, with documents and receipts, and maybe even with photographs, of the value of goods that you own and that you have considered in stipulating the policy If some valuable objects that you intended to include in the policy are gifts, it is good to have a declaration of the seller, about the economic value of the same in case of theft. The first thing to do in case of theft is report to the police, where in addition to the list of the stolen items, you have to provide an estimate of their value: in this case if you make false declarations, this is punishable by law. The insurance company must be given copy of the report: this document, given the awareness of illegality in declaring false data, should be enough to the insurance Company as an evidence of the stolen goods and their value.
In the policies covering fire, burglary, vandalism, electrical phenomena, water leakage, glass breakage, etc., compensation is represented by repairing damage from specialized technicians. The quotation/invoice for the repair of the damage, prepared by a technical chosen by the policyholder will be the amount on which the repayment to the policyholder by the insurance company will be based.
All the responsibilities for which the Family can be liable, also in fact, for any damage that may be caused to third parties from a family member. To understand what are the real risks it is better to do a few examples. In addition to the apartment ownership (the shedding of water from the washing machine or dropping a vase of flowers from the window) you can think to going by bike, to involuntarily bump a passerby pushing him on the roadway where vehicle pass, the wild mushroom risotto among whom there was a non-edible one, to the many things that children can cause in their natural exuberance, all those things that even our imagination is not able to imagine, but that the Family liability policy can insure.
The expenses relating to fees and expenses of the lawyer, experts (appointed by the party or ex officio) and expenses paid on behalf of the other party if it wins the case. The payment or reimbursement of sums due for capital or interest, for fines, penalties or administrative sanctions are not included. Conditions may vary from one Company to the other.
Those of any other insurance. You are assured by paying a premium paid with a policy which sets out the cases in which the guarantee is valid, the methods to be followed, the limit within which the insurer is required to pay the fees referred to in the policy.
Check to see if the effect is the date of the contract or if there is a waiting period. Be informed about the exclusions and limitations on the guarantee, for example about disputes of limited economic significance. Know in which countries the contract is operative. Quantify the maximum amount of expenses you are insured for any claim and / or per policy year. Make sure that the legal and expert costs insured are paid directly by the Company or if and in what cases, on the contrary, they should be anticipated by the Insured in order to obtain reimbursement.
Not normally. It applies only to disputes arising out of facts or situations that have occurred at a later time.
In compliance with legislation, there is freedom of choice of lawyer for the case of having to afford legal proceedings.
Notify the Company that will use every friendly means - that is, not the judiciary ones - to resolve it. If this fails, or the result does not satisfy the Insured, there are two options, the first is that the Insured and the Company agree to proceed in the courts appointing a lawyer and the second that in case of disagreement an arbitration is invoked.
The policies for commercial activities have many guarantees and options, let’s see in detail what they are and what they insure: • Rental risk: it insures the location for damage resulting from fire in case the location is rented; •Building: it insures the location for damage resulting from fire in case the location is owned by the policyholder; • Neighbours Recourse: it insures the damage caused to third parties (apartments and adjacent shops) as a result of fire in the local insured; • Fire of the content (Machinery, equipment, furniture): it insures fire damage to the content such as furniture, various equipment, goods, etc .; • Electrical phenomena: it insures damage to electrical and electronic equipment caused by electrical phenomena such as short circuit, lightning; • Goods in fridge: it insures the damage to the goods contained in any refrigerators following failures to the electrical system and electrical phenomena • Theft of contents / robbery: it insures the content as a result of theft or robbery; • Glasses: it insures accidental glass breakage (often the shop’s signs are included); • Electronic risks: electronic items are protected (Pos, cash registers, PC) from damage caused by human factor, electrical phenomena, natural and accidental events. • Third Party Liability: it covers any damage caused to third parties, associated with the progress of your business or the property of the premises, including insurance for your Employees Advantages • Work in serenity • Tailor-made cover for your business • Continuity of your business • Consulting service and dedicated support
The professional liability insurance has become mandatory in Italy with the DPR 137/2012 of 14/08/2012, in order to ensure that the professional is able to meet the requirements of damage in the event of errors, omissions, professional negligence and contractual liability caused to third parties, and first of all to his customers.
First of all those enrolled in professional registers such as Business Consultants, Accountants, Architects, Engineers, Surveyors, Medicine Doctors, Lawyers, Condominium Administrators, regardless of whether the practitioner is an employee, co-worker or a freelancer, if he normally works without signing projects or is not subject to. The same requirement also applies to the associated activities among professionals. The professional is obliged to provide to the customer, when appointed, the particulars of his liability policy and the relevant limit.
The starting point is constituted by filling out a questionnaire, which will be provided by the Insurer, and that is specific to each category; you should be careful in filling the questionnaire as it will form an integrant part of the insurance contract and attached to it.
The cost depends very much on activity carried out, and depends on the insured limit, the presence of a possible deductible in the event of a claim, the existence of previous claims and turnover. It is impossible then to make a forecast. There are in fact certain kinds of professions riskier than others, i.e. the greater is the risk of causing damage to third parties and the higher is the cost of the policy.
The law does not provide for insurance limits requested; the professional will have then to choose it, with the support of his broker.
It regards civil servants, and is the insurance to protect themselves from the subrogation that the Public Administration is required to do, in the case of damage caused by gross negligence .
